Arctic Boats with Carved Figures and Moss Covered Shore, C. 1920s-30s Diorama in Handmade Wood and Glass Vitrine victorian stove door 13 3/4" w x 7I found this at an antiques shop in upstate NY where I often find unusual things and indeed, I pretty much never come across a piece like this. (Model sailing ships in cases, yes, but not 360 degree dioramas of Inuit boats (2 kayaks and a umiak) complete with carved and painted figures and rocky, moss covered outcroppings!) All wonderfully homespun feeling, very folky. I presume this was most likely made for a museum or educational context, though am
